APAPA
The Asia Pacific Alcohol Policy Alliance (APAPA) was proposed
at the Global Alcohol
Policy Alliance meeting held in Auckland in December 2005
and APAPA was established at its inaugural meeting in Bangkok
in August 2006. An APAPA
website and online
group have also been launched.
APAPA
is a network of NGOs committed to the development effective
alcohol policy in the Asia Pacific region. The mission of
APAPA is to reduce alcohol-related harm worldwide by promoting
science-based policies independent of commercial interests.
APAPA objectives include to:

Provide a forum for alcohol policy advocates through meetings,
information sharing, publications, and electronic communications;
with the purpose to disseminate information regionally on
effective alcohol policies and policy advocacy;
- Bring
to the attention of local communities, national governments,
international governmental and non-governmental agencies
and communities the social, economic, and health consequences
of alcohol consumption and related harm; with the purpose
to advocate for international and national governmental
and non-governmental efforts to reduce alcohol related harm
worldwide
APAPA
covers countries in the WHO’s Western Pacific and South
East Asia regions.

South East Asia region countries:
Thailand, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Bhutan, Nepal, DPR Korea,
Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Timor-Leste and the Maldives
Western Pacific Region:
Pacific countries include Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Kiribati,
Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands, Niue,
Nauru, Tuvalu, Tokelau, Pitcairn Island, Marshall Islands,
Guam, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, New Caledonia,
French Polynesia, Fortuna, Wallis, Northern Mariana Islands,
New Zealand and Australia
Asian countries in the Western Pacific region include China,
Hong Kong, Macao, Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei Darassalam,
Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Japan, Republic of Korea, Singapore,
Mongolia
