New
Zealand Values Survey 2005
Rich
Dialogue Process
The New Zealand Study of Values is part of an international
collaboration to measure citizens values being run by SHORE Director
Professor Sally Casswell, Dr Paul Perry of Massey University's
Palmerston North campus and Professor Phillipa Howden-Chapman
at the Wellington School of Medicine.
The latest wave of the New Zealand study was carried out in early
2005 with funding from the Foundation for Research, Science and
Technology. Additional funding was obtained from the Ministry
of Research Science and Technology; Children’s Commissioner;
Ministry of Social Development; Ministry of Economic Development;
Treasury Department; Department of Labour and the State Services
Commission.
As
part of the dissemination process for the Values Study a Rich
Dialogue Process (RDP) is being used. An RDP process is a way
of creating dialogue between parties developed by Dr Paul Duignan
and Jennifer Parker as part of work for the Royal Society of
New Zealand.
The
Values Study Rich Dialogue Process is being used by the Building
Research Capability in the Social Sciences (BRCSS) collaboration
to explore ways in which another innovation, Access Grid rooms,
can be used increase the quality and depth of research dissemination.
Access
Grid rooms are meeting rooms connected by the internet which
go beyond video conferencing by allowing multiple sites to
communicate with video, voice and multiple data projector screens.
They provide a rich environment in which people can interact.
The Values Study RDPs will be taking place on 7, 13,14,15 and
21 March 2006 using Access Grid video conferencing rooms in Auckland,
Wellington and Christchurch.
