Designing Community Development for Youth in Counties/Manukau

This Strategic Development Grant carries forward earlier research findings around youth wellbeing in Counties/Manukau which indicate the importance of social and physical environments to youth health.

Themes in Young People's Accounts of Wellbeing in Their Lives

The current work is focussed on developing community networks and capacity for the purpose of building a larger research project to implement fully evaluated environmental interventions for youth wellbeing in Counties/Manukau.

The research team of Maori, Samoan and Pakeha social scientists are disseminating their research and literature based knowledge to the communities and seeking their reactions and insights in return to provide the strongest possible foundation for the proposed evaluated interventions.

A key outcome of the project will be a completed research proposal to the HRC and other interested funders for the next stage of the research.
