Regional Alcohol Project

In New Zealand significant increases in drinking and alcohol related harm have occurred for young people. It is in this context that the Ministry of Health has been bringing together its alcohol promotions service providers based in Auckland, along with SHORE researchers, to develop collaborative community action initiatives, focussed on reducing alcohol-related harm for young people in the Auckland Region. These community action initiatives draw on current evidence-based research.

The final evaluation report for the Auckland Regional Community Action Project (ARCAP) is now available to download. This report documents the formative, process and impact evaluation findings

During 2004 the Auckland Regional Exit Breath Survey investigated breath alcohol levels of people under the age of 25 years exiting On Licence premises (nightclubs, taverns and rural hotels) in the Auckland Region. The selected premise types included those premises commonly referred to as bars and pubs. Data collection took place over four successive weekends. Two hundred and fifty On Licence premises were randomly selected to be visited. Click here to view the exit survey report.
